Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Religious Worker to serve our community through spiritual guidance, support, and outreach. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and experience working with diverse groups, including children and individuals in hospice care.

This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing spiritual care and fostering a supportive environment aligned with our organization’s values.

NOTE: Candidate must be Baptized (Amritdhari Gursikh only).


Duties

  • Assist Granthis and Ragis in setting up and conducting daily prayers (Nitnem), Kirtan, and Paath.
  • Prepare and manage items needed for religious ceremonies (e.g., Rumala Sahib, Chaur Sahib, Palki Sahib).
  • Assist in the daily preparation and cooking of meals for the langar (community kitchen), following the dietary guidelines and traditions of the religious institution.
  • Support the organization of food distribution to congregation members and visitors, ensuring meals are served with respect and according to religious customs.
  • Participate in the cleaning and maintenance of the langar hall, kitchen, and associated areas to uphold the values of seva (selfless service) and cleanliness.
  • Help organize and coordinate religious ceremonies such as Akhand Paath, Sukhmani Sahib Paath, weddings, funerals, and other special prayers.
  • Assist with Sukhasan (closing ceremony) and Parkash (opening ceremony).
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanctity of the prayer hall (Darbar Sahib).
  • Help preserve and promote Sikh heritage, traditions, and language within the community.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, hospice care recipients, or in teaching roles is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities within religious or community settings.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively connect with diverse populations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to service delivery.
  • Relevant religious or spiritual certification or ordination preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also working independently when needed.
  • Commitment to upholding the organization’s values of respect, inclusivity, and service excellence.
  • Must be Baptized (Amritdhari Gursikh).
